Course Description 

This workshop has been designed to support people who are currently in roles that involve attending board committees, or who may be called upon to do so. The workshop explores and examines the key areas and skills that will enhance the ability and confidence of those attending board committees to perform well.

 

CPD accredited: 45 minutes of learning, 55 minutes of testing and 50 minutes on reflection.

 

​At the end of the session, you will have:

  • an enhanced understanding of the trust’s governance structure and the significance and purpose of board committees

  • explored what is required to produce an effective board paper or information to be submitted

  • how to understand your audience and how to design your presentation to suit it

  • a working understanding of what assurance is and the questions you could or should be asked by committee members and how to respond to them effectively

 

This course is delivered over 45 minutes, the attendee has the opportunity to learn in their own time, and the learning is split over 3 videos. The Governance Academy remains available post-training to answer any questions.

Meet your trainer

Howard Scott

Howard has worked in the NHS for over thirty-four years. A former nurse, he is a leader with extensive experience of working at ward, directorate, divisional, trust, regional and national levels in clinical and managerial posts.

​

He has wide-ranging experience in governance, risk and change management, including quality and safety systems and processes.
