Oliver McGowan training

The Healthcare Governance Academy now have qualified trainers for the Level 2 Oliver McGowan training.

The lead trainer's certified number is #OM-26-3550

Our trainers have also undertaken independent investigations into the deaths of patients with autism and will bring the training alive, drawing upon their experiences and the learning from these investigations.

How is the training mandated?

​

The Health and Care Act 2022 enforces the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice. The Code of Practice sets out who must receive training. 

​

What are the training requirements? 

​​

Everyone who works in a health or care environment is required to have a general awareness of people with a learning disability and autistic people, and the support they may need. This is referred to as Tier 1 training. 

​

Anyone who provides hands-on care or treatment must attend a face-to-face Tier 2 course.
